Yesterday morning I was reading Heloise's Hints. People were asked to send in their pet peeves.

Someone saying, "I don't have time." We all have the same amount of time -- 24 hours a day. How we choose to use our time is the issue.
Obviously Ann Phelps is a single, childless person who has not a clue. Seriously. Having children who need to be at different activities all at the same time while you need to get back and forth to work and in some cases two or three jobs, do laundry, shopping, cooking, doctor's appt.'s, library, etc. and still try and have time to do special stuff for yourself like sleep is extremely hard and if you weren't all ready managing your time you wouldn't be able to do it. Even with out the kids it's difficult. What if you have special needs family members? That totally sucks up your life.
It is perfectly legit to say I don't have the time to do something because you really don't even if it's something you want to do. As Ms. Phelps says, there are 24 hours in the day, only 24 hours, that's a finite amount of time. A large chunk of which has to be spent eating, sleeping, driving, and going to the bathroom. Not necessarily in that order.
Okay, you don't have to choose to use your time to help your children or cook or clean or do laundry or get to your jobs or sleep but that's not realistic. If you choose not to you'll likely end up out on the street in dirty clothes and mismatched socks rattling paper cups at people.
How can she just come out with such an arrogant comment? What a twit. I am wondering how many people read that comment and feel the way I do and how many people are nodding their heads and saying, "How wise Ann Phelps is."
