Reading The Posts

  • Mood: This doesn't actually match my mood, which is good btw, I just love the picture. Whap!
  • What's Next: I have no idea. It'll be a surprise, let you know when I figure it out.

I just spent a pleasant 45 min or so wandering about and reading people's posts and now and again posting a pithy or more likely inane comment here and there.  While doing so I read what other people posted and it dawned on me that some people were not actually reading what people had written.  They were just leaving tags in the hopes that someone would come and read what they had written.  How rude.  I wonder if these are the same people that never listen to what you say or if they do shut up long enough for you to say something they come out with something like, "yeah, yeah, yeah, but yap, yap, yap." and off they go clearly having no interest in a conversation.

Yes, it is so great when someone reads what you write and even comments on it.  It's totally cool because you connected with someone and it feels good.  But that's only half the fun.  The other half is when you go out and read about other peoples' lives, hopes, dreams, actions, disappointments and dysfunctions.  It's a legal eaves dropping type of thing.  It's truly interesting.  And when you comment on something they wrote showing you did spend a minute 'listening' to them you actually make a difference in someone's life.  You do.  Seriously.  You bring a smile or a nod or in some cases, a frown or a total howl of frustration which isn't all bad I guess.

Speaking of which, what is up with the DJRolla thing?  I got an interesting warning about him, assuming it stems from his comments on my tag board and then I followed the train about and even Sevina or Severus (I never did figure out what to call him/her/them) who is a very nice blogger, a bit twisted, but nice, was cranky at the DJRolla person.  Anybody want to fill me in?

I just realized this is a redundant post.  The people who should be reading it won't because well, that is what the post is about, they don't.  And the ones who do read it will be telling me I am just preaching to the choir over here.  Ah well...

Pompous Twit

Yesterday morning I was reading Heloise's Hints.  People were asked to send in their pet peeves.

Ann Phelps of Farmingham, NM wrote:
Someone saying, "I don't have time." We all have the same amount of time -- 24 hours a day.  How we choose to use our time is the issue.

Obviously Ann Phelps is a single, childless person who has not a clue.  Seriously.  Having children who need to be at different activities all at the same time while you need to get back and forth to work and in some cases two or three jobs, do laundry, shopping, cooking, doctor's appt.'s, library, etc. and still try and have time to do special stuff for yourself like sleep is extremely hard and if you weren't all ready managing your time you wouldn't be able to do it.  Even with out the kids it's difficult. What if you have special needs family members? That totally sucks up your life.
It is perfectly legit to say I don't have the time to do something because you really don't even if it's something you want to do.  As Ms. Phelps says, there are 24 hours in the day, only 24 hours, that's a finite amount of time. A large chunk of which has to be spent eating, sleeping, driving, and going to the bathroom.  Not necessarily in that order.
Okay, you don't have to choose to use your time to help your children or cook or clean or do laundry or get to your jobs or sleep but that's not realistic. If you choose not to  you'll likely end up out on the street in dirty clothes and mismatched socks rattling paper cups at people.
How can she just come out with such an arrogant comment?  What a twit.  I am wondering how many people read that comment and feel the way I do and how many people are nodding their heads and saying, "How wise Ann Phelps is."

Happy Birthday To Me

Today is my b'day.  Why is everyone asking me if I feel 40?  It's as if everyone believes some kind of supernatural event happens on your 40th b'day.  Like yesterday I was 39 and everything is young and chipper and happy and last night I was visited by the aging fairy who waved her magic wand and now I'm supposed to feel ancient.  Hair was supposed to turn grey or fall out over night, dentures magically replace my teeth, a cane appear at my bedside and upon waking I was supposed to be a doddering idiot unable to remember my own name.  Well, none of that happened.  Except for the doddering idiot part but that doesn't really count because I was pretty much born with that attribute.

I have a question, I have noticed that some people have their picture on the front page of their blogs.  I have mine in my profile but haven't a clue on how to get it on my front page, can anyone help me?

Off To The Mall I Go

An itsy bitsy spider.  This is a macro shot.  In reality the spider was only about the size of a match head and the web was about the size of my hand.  Very tiny.  You can see him in the middle of the web.  When he saw me he tucked his legs under himself and then crumpled.  I think imitating a crumpled leaf is his defense.  I've named him George.

Today we are going to the mall.  I don't really want to go to the mall but the girls really, really, want to go.  My b'day is Monday and they have been saving up their money to get me something and I thought that was really sweet.  I'm also going to stop at the Pet Smart and get some rattie wash and at the book store I shall get some comics.  Yes,  I know, I am much too old to be reading comics but I don't care.  I think a lot of people out there would do well to play, read comics, watch silly movies and do other things that they are supposed to be too old for.  More on that later, I need to go get dressed.  Good lord!  Scott is actually showered and dressed already.  This is not good.  Now I look like the lazy one. Can't have that, gotta go...

Friday Morning

  • Mood: Has anyone seen my brain? I was planning on using today and now I can't find it.
  • What's Next: I have absolutely no idea.

Today I present the grasshopper found in a corn field next to a cemetary.

So, what's on the agenda for today?  Well... I'm going to take a shower and then go glare at the kitchen and think about breakfast.  I will then leave the kitchen after deciding breakfast is not worth the effort.  I might decide to unload the dishwasher while there but I wouldn't count on it.  Then I will wander about the house for a bit.  No special reason, just something I do on the days that I feel like someone has stolen my brain and replaced it with 100 pounds of cotton batting.  Maybe I need more sleep.  I'll go feed my fish and let Fitz the Beta glare at me.  He lives for that.  He's the grumpiest fish I have ever seen.  After that, who knows.  The day is totally open.  I could clean the bathrooms, I could get an early start on the laundry, I could do all sorts of productive things.  Or I could watch movies and work on my afghan or I could actually get a couple of chapters written if my brain ever comes back.

Nothing to see here...

  • Mood: Good Lord! What temp is the heat set too? I'm melting over here.
  • What's Next: Must clean the kitchen.
Just re-testing the waters, checking out the changes and getting ready to start reposting.  So, just shuffle on along, nothing to see here, go on about your day and we'll be back shortly.  I'll be back shortly.  Not we.  I've really got to stop this third person stuff.
